Condition

The support consists of two vertical panels joined to the reverse with a series of batons and bevelled along the upper and lower margins. There is an old vertical split in the left hand panel. Overall the support is stable with an old slight convex bow. The paint surface is secure, if a little thin and abraded particularly in the darks of the background, under an old yellowed varnish. Retouching work is evident along the aforementioned panel join and split and this is confirmed under UV light which is otherwise impeded by the aforementioned varnish. Offered in black lacquer and gilt frame in good condition with some minor losses.
