After discussion between Natalie Seroussi and Bernard Blistène, director of the Musée national d’art moderne Centre Georges Pompidou, Natalie Seroussi has chosen to withdraw the painting by Martial Raysse, entitled A propos de New York en peinturama, dated from 1965. This painting will enter the Centre Pompidou collection
Natalie Seroussi opened her first gallery in 1977, on rue Quincampoix in Paris. Now settled rue de Seine for over 30 years, she is considered one of the main actors of the Parisian art scene. After making the acquisition of the house of André Bloc (1895-1966) in Meudon in the 80s, and inspired by the habitacle sculptures of this genius architect who gave life to his researches on the synthesis between architecture and sculpture, Natalie Seroussi launched an international architecture contest in 2006.
Today, she wishes to continue this project and create a “conversational residency” in order to share, circulate ideas and foster collective thinking between art historians, exhibition curators, architects, writers and artists. It is the reason why, with the help of her son Julien Seroussi, she has decided to auction part of her historic collection among which are the very rare red chalk self-portrait by Henri Matisse, an outstanding painting by Karel Appel from his Cobra period, an hypnotic Hourloupe by Dubuffet from 1965 as well as an emblematic work by Martial Raysse from the same year.
