Our first London wine sale in 2018 is a single-owner affair, sourced from the cellar of a highly knowledgeable wine lover. The collection was stored in a grotto that had been hewn by hand from the base of a rock face, located in a particularly beautiful part of Northern Europe. The resulting storage conditions were consistently and evenly cool with good natural humidity.
The contents of this amazing cellar were also rather special. The heart of the collection covers the two decades from 1990 to 2010 and the majority is presented in first rate condition. All the First Growths, including Lafite 1990, Latour 2000 and Margaux 2010 are present and correct alongside a host of Super Seconds and other great Left Bank wine, most in original full cases and often in parcel quantities. The Right Bank has not been stinted. Eight vintages of Petrus are followed by Le Pin in all its glory, ranging from the 1989 vintage to no less than four cases of 2011.
There is also a smattering of red Burgundy, Sassicaia, Gaja and Condrieu from Guigal, and the sale ends with highly affordable Roc de Cambes.
