The drawings of eggs are in fact by Meyer's daughter Constance, and are copied from the later 7-volume edition of her father's work, to be sold to owners of the first editions, to make their copies complete. The annotations mentioned in the description are on the versos of these drawings.
Please note that the box is not included for sale in this lot.
The hinges have been repaired in all three volumes.
This lot should not have a # symbol in the printed catalogue.
There is one book in this lot, as described (for a short time two volumes were on view - from 9am Thursday 5th May to 11am Friday 6th May).
The joint on one volume is split.
The spines of these 2 volumes are numbered 2 and 3. They are uniformly bound with lot 161 and presumably were originally bound as a 3-volume set. The spine label of lot 161 is missing.
Please note that the online image for this lot was initially incorrect (it showed another example of the same map). The correct image appeared on the internet on Wednesday 4th May. The image in the printed catalogue is incorrect.
Please note that the estimate in the printed catalogue should read £2,000-3,000
