The Spring sale of Jewels to be held in London on 17th March 2011 features a wide variety of jewels, from engagement rings and earrings, to bracelets and tiaras.
Among these are delicate cannetille work jewels from the early 19th Century incorporating pink topaz; several Archaeological revival jewels from the mid 19th Century including an attractive bangle by Phillips of Cockspur Street. One particular highlight is a very versatile late 19th Century jewel that can be worn as a corsage ornament, a tiara and also as a necklace, as well as converting to pendants, brooches and jewelled hair decorations.
There are several examples of natural pearls: a wonderful example is a delicate Edwardian sautoir composed of a mesh of seed pearls. Striking jewels from the Art Deco period are represented in the form of double clip brooches and bracelets. The foliate inpsired demi-parure in gold and diamonds, by Sterlé, is typical of the distinctive jewellery designs of the 1950s.
Many jewels from the famous jewellery houses of Bulgari, Boucheron, Van Cleef & Arpels appear in the sale. And from Cartier, a collection of beautiful hand-coloured jewellery designs from the 40s and 50s. Diamonds and coloured gemstone jewels with a range of estimates are also on offer this March.
Anyone with an interest in jewellery will find something desirable in this sale.
