Heinrich von Spreti joined Sotheby’s in 1978, and has been President of Sotheby’s Germany, based in Munich, since 1999. He is internationally recognised as one of the foremost experts in the field of gold boxes and Fabergé, and continues to play a leading role in Sotheby’s sales of Vertu, particularly those taking place in our Geneva salerooms.
Mr von Spreti began his career in Sotheby’s London’s Vertu department and became Head of the department in 1984. Three years later, he was named a Director, relocating to take charge of Sotheby’s Munich office. He was appointed Managing Director in 1996.
Mr von Spreti was crucial to the success of the famous Geneva sale of objects from the Princely Collection of Thurn and Taxis in November 1992.
