Arabella Bishop joined Sotheby’s in 1999 as Head of the Irish office. Having been with the company for over 19 years, she has a wealth of experience within the auction and private treaty markets and has handled many estate and collections sales. She is the most senior full time representative working for an international auction house in Ireland.
Since joining Sotheby’s, she has been involved in numerous successful sales including Sotheby’s notable Irish Art sale in 2001 which realised over £7 million. She played a key role in the inaugural sale of Post War and Contemporary Irish Art in 2006, the first of its kind worldwide to establish 26 world records in the category. In leading the Ireland Office, she is part of the international client team supporting key sales in London, New York, Hong Kong, Paris and Geneva and important auctions throughout Europe. In this role, she was a driving force behind the re-introduction of the successful standalone Irish Sale in 2015.
Having previously worked at Bonham’s London for seven years, she has extensive knowledge in multiple areas of expertise including the 19th Century, Russian and Modern Paintings departments and was a trained auctioneer.
She graduated from Trinity College Dublin with an Honours degree in History of Art and Classical Civilisation in 1992.
