Alexandra Allen joined the Fine Arts department in 2010 and is a General Paintings Specialist, with a focus on European Art before 1940. Mrs. Allen is responsible for cataloguing, research and design of the yearly Old Master & 19th Century European Art sale, and plays a central role in research and catalogue production of the twice yearly sales of Impressionist & Modern Art, Including Russian Art.
Prior to joining Sotheby’s, Mrs. Allen worked in the Old Master Paintings department at Christie’s New York for 3 1/2 years. She holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Virginia in the History of Art and a master’s degree from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London.
