The Contemporary Art Evening Auction on 12 February 2014 realised a total of £88 million led by Gerhard Richter’s cherished work "Wand (Wall)", which achieved £17.4 million. A striking red and yellow canvas from Andy Warhol’s iconic "Mao" series sold for £7.6 million. Two-thirds of the works offered had never been seen at auction including Cy Twombly’s "Untitled (Rome)", Alberto Burri’s "Rosso Plastica", Lucian Freud’s "Head on a Green Sofa" and Frank Auerbach’s rediscovered masterpiece "Morning – Mornington Place".
