AUCTION RESULTS
Th exceptional collection OF Charles Labbé (1820 - 1885) revealed a remarkable collaboration between the photographer Ernest de Caranza and the painter Emile Charles Labbé and reached about € 500,000.
The auction was led by one piece of this collection, the album entitled « Mont Athos, Couvents Grecs, Turquie, 1853 » which largely exceeded its estimate reaching € 183,000. Sotheby's is pleased to announce the sale of three exceptional ensembles. The historic part of the sale will be highlighted by a collection of 19th century photographs including the discovery of the works by Ernest de Caranza. The auction will also include a major collection of surrealist photographs among which a set of Distortions by Andre Kertész, vintage prints by Henri Cartier-Bresson and Hans Bellmer.

Among the highlights from the contemporary section will be a dye-transfer by William Eggleston, The Coal Miner by Richard Avedon, the portrait Xteriors IV of Desiree Dolron, the Sunpath by Francis Alÿs
