Combining contemporary art, design and photography, the second instalment of our Now! sale series, curated by Aurélie Bidermann, surpassed €1 million with 81% of lots sold by value and more than 55% of lots sold above their high estimate. With more than 35% of buyers new to Sotheby’s, the sale was a great success confirming that there is still significant demand for original works with attractive estimates.
The highest price of the auction was Yves Klein’s Victoire de Samothrace, which more than doubled its high estimate selling for €123,000. A further highlight of the auction was a work from celebrated Turkish painter Burhan Doğançay from 1976, which sold for €32,000.
Following the success of the first Now! sale, Sotheby's is pleased to announce the second instalment on 18 February 2016. The auction will gather prints, photographs, as well as contemporary works of art, objects and furniture from the 20th and 21st centuries. Emotion, discovery and variety are the key concepts of these sales, which offer innovative and creative pieces.
