The Impressionist & Modern Art day Sale achieved a final total of £21,063,750. The top lot of the auction was Vincent van Gogh's striking drawing Old Man Praying. Executed in 1883 when the artist was living in The Hague, the work sold for £1,085,000, more than double its pre-sale high estimate. Other highlights of the sale included Marc Chagall's joyful Les Mariés aux deux bouquets and Bateaux et barques aux Martigues, painted in 1907 by Raoul Dufy, which achieved £749,000 and £605,000 respectively.
