This week’s wine sale in London totalled £1,233,880 ($1.9 million). Mature Bordeaux and Burgundy, particularly DRC and Domaine Georges Roumier, performed extremely well as a result of strong bidding from across the globe. Six magnums of Château Lafleur 1982 achieved the highest price of £37,600 and a world record was set for six bottles of Quinta do Noval Nacional 1963 which sold for £23,500. Our next sales will be held on 6 December in New York, 10 December in London and 12 December in Hong Kong.
The 19 November sale offers a dazzling array of top Bordeaux and Burgundy.
The lead collection features Classed Growth Bordeaux for current and future drinking. Montrose 1990, Margaux and Mouton Rothschild 1996, Léoville Las Cases 2000, Cos d’Estournel 2003 and Lafite 2005 offer a snapshot.
Other collections boast complete cases of Lafite 1982, Mouton Rothschild 1985, Latour 1988, Margaux 1989 and Haut Brion 1998. A significant parcel of Lafite 1988 is another highlight. Pavie 1990, Le Pin 2000 and Angélus 2003 add Right Bank allure while Lafleur 1982, 2000 and 2005 in magnums are among the undoubted star lots of the sale.
The DRC selection features Romanée-Conti 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 and Montrachet 2003 to 2006. Further Burgundy rarities from Domaine Georges Roumier, Jean Grivot and Christophe Roumier offer perfect drinking now or cellaring if you can wait. De Vogüé’s Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, Bonnes Mares and Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses span the years 2004-2011. A fabulous trio from Rousseau – Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze and Gevrey Chambertin Clos St. Jacques in the 2009 vintage – is equally tempting. Dujac devotees will be drawn to cases of Clos de la Roche from 2000-2011. There is also a stunning range of Grand Cru Chablis from René & Vincent Dauvissat.
Sauternes highlights include Yquem 1990, Yquem 2001 and L’Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne 2005.
Krug lovers are faced with a difficult choice between Krug, Krug Collection and Clos du Mesnil in vintages ranging from 1973 to 1990.
And to bring any dinner party to a rapturous end, a rare offering of Quinta do Noval Nacional 1963 is the perfect answer.
