Highlights from the 19 – 20 November sale of Latin American Art included Matta’s 1943 painting Nada, an exceptional example of Surrealism painting which realized an impressive $1,818,500. In addition, a major piece of Mexican national patrimony, the Portrait of Moctezuma, executed by an anonymous hand in the late 17th century, realized $1,650,500.
