Robert Sleigh is a Division Head based in Sotheby’s Hong Kong offices, responsible for several specialist auction departments including the Contemporary Art, South East Asian Art, Fine Art, Contemporary Ink, Watches and Wine.
Since moving to Hong Kong in 2010 as Head of Sotheby’s Wine, Asia he played a leading role in expanding Sotheby’s Wine business throughout the region and helping launch Sotheby’s retail wine business in Hong Kong in September 2014. Sotheby’s sold over US$ 200 million in wine at auction from 2010 through 2015.
Prior to moving to Hong Kong, Robert Sleigh joined Sotheby’s New York in 1996, where he was Head of the New York Wine Department. He is also an auctioneer for Sotheby’s and charity auctions throughout Asia and sold the most expensive bottle of whisky ever the Macallan “M” Lalique Decanter, $628,205 (HK$ 4.9M) in January 2014 and the most expensive wine lot ever, the 114 bottle Romanée Conti Superlot, $1,609,776 (HK$ 12.6M) in October 2014.
