Clarissa Post, Senior Vice President, Sotheby’s New York, International Business Development, joined Sotheby’s in June 1998 working as a provenance researcher specializing in issues related to art losses during the Second World War. She graduated from Georgetown University, with a join degree in Art History and Russian/Foreign Service. While in Washington DC she worked with Arthur Wheelock at the National Gallery of Art and with Charlie Moffett at the Phillips Collection in Washington, DC. Clarissa began her specialist career at Sotheby’s in the field of Old Master Paintings and has been involved in many of the most significant sales in this area from 2000 to 2013. From 2010 - 2013 Clarissa held the position as the Head of Old Master Private Sales, North America during which time she worked closely with George Wachter selling works privately to collectors and instructions globally. In 2013 Clarissa was hired as part of Senior Specialist team in the Impressionist and Modern Art department working on winning many consignments and managing top tier collections for clients in the field of Impressionist and Modern. In 2014 Clarissa was appointed the head of Private Sales for Impressionist and Modern paintings in New York. Clarissa has now expanded her role with Sotheby's to work closely with the Chairman in International Business Development working globally with top tier clients on both auction and private sale consignments in the fields of Impressionist and Modern paintings, Contemporary Art, and Old Master paintings.
