Nota a catalogo

Breck visited Giverny in 1887 and was one of the first American artists to spend time there.  He developed close ties to Claude Monet and became an ardent exponent of the then avant-garde style of the French Impressionists.  On his return to his native Boston in 1890, his historic one-man show at St. Botolph's Club was among the first to introduce Impressionism to the American public.
