Beginning with the Fauves, a striking view of a Corsican town by Auguste Herbin and a hypnotic Egyptian beauty by Kees van Dongen the Paris sale offers an exciting selection of works by major Modern artists. We move from the Champs Elysées with an important cityscape by Pierre Bonnard to the animated skies of Marc Chagall populated by lovers and musicians and end with two important abstract compositions by Fernand Léger. A focus on high quality works from private French collections characterizes this auction which also includes pieces by Auguste Rodin, Edgar Degas, and many of the Surrealists.
