Our June Contemporary Curated auction brought a total of 3,693,634 with strong results for works by Sol LeWitt, Vik Muniz, Joseph Kosuth and Cindy Sherman. The sale was led by Kenneth Noland’s large scale Circum-Grid Green from 1973 that sold above the high estimate for $185,000. Property from the Estate of Jeanne Siegel, art critic and Chair at the School of Visual Arts, sold extremely well with several pieces achieving results two to three times the high estimates, which included works from Anthony Caro, Jutta Koether and Robert Mangold. Additional works from the Sender Collection were also a part of the sale and featured Barbara Kruger’s Untitled (My Face Is Your Fortune), 1982 that sold for $46,875.
Headlining the Contemporary Curated auction are two single-owner consignments. Kenneth Noland’s Circum-Grid Green (1973), and Sol Lewitt’s Blue Grid, Black Circles (1972) will lead a group of 21 works from the Estate of Jeanne Siegel, a writer, art critic, and Chair at the School of Visual Arts. The Adam Sender Collection, which includes a dynamic selection of works from the 1980s through today, is highlighted by Barbara Kruger’s My Face is Your Fortune (1982). Other top lots include works by Sam Francis, Esteban Vicente, David Salle, Vik Muniz and Mark Flood.
