Stephanie Douglas joined Sotheby’s in 1995 as a Tapestry Cataloguer in the French & Continental Furniture & Tapestries department where she works with many of Sotheby’s European salerooms. Recently, Ms Douglas was closely involved with Sotheby’s auction of The Hanover Collection that was held in Germany as well as the sales of Shrubland Park, Easton Neston and various single-owner collections, including those of the Château de Cornillon and of Mallett at Bourdon House. Ms Douglas has been involved in the highly successful Haute Époque sales of Early Tapestries and Continental Furniture since they began in 2002, where an important cross-section of European tapestries is represented.

Ms Douglas began her career in the art world while working on The Dictionary of Art for Macmillan Publishers. She went on to gain experience in the specialised field of tapestries while working with the renowned late George Hughes-Hartman on the sale of The Vigo-Sternberg Collection in 1996, the first auction in many years to be devoted to tapestries.
