Simon Stock joined the Impressionist & Modern Art department in 2007 from the Private Client Group, where he established key relationships with many of Sotheby's high-profile international clients.

Mr. Stock is closely involved with putting together the bi-annual London Evening Sales, as well contributing to those in New York. Since 2007, he has co-curated Beyond Limits, the popular annual-selling exhibition of modern and contemporary sculpture held in the historic grounds of Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. Mr. Stock was also a key contributor to the exhibition of Contemporary Design, Sotheby's at Sudeley Castle, held in Gloucestershire in 2010, and lectures on Sotheby's special projects for the Sotheby's Institute of Art.

Prior to transferring to the Private Client Group in 2005, Mr. Stock was a specialist in the European Sculpture & Works of Art department, which he joined in September 1999 after completing his M.A. at University College London. He was a previous intern in the Sculpture department at the J Paul Getty Museum, California,  and the history of sculpture has long been of particular interest to Mr. Stock. He has written articles on the subject for The Sculpture Journal, the New Dictionary of National Biography, the Neues Allgemeines Kunstler-Lexikon and the 2006 exhibition Royalist Refugees: William and Margaret Cavendish in the Rubens House 1648 - 1660.
