Molly Ott Ambler joined Sotheby’s 20 years ago and has been with the Impressionist & Modern Art Department since 2006. She became Head of Day Sales in 2009. As Head of Day Sales, she led that team to market dominance between 2009 and 2016, while also winning consignments for the Evening Sales. She transitioned full time to the Evening Sale team as a Senior Specialist in 2016. She is responsible for advising collectors and institutions, providing valuations and securing paintings, drawings and sculpture for auctions and private sales in New York, London and Paris. In this role she has been involved in the important sales of the collections of Mamdouha & Elmer Bobst, Ambassador John L. Loeb, Wolfgang Joop, Arthur Sackler, Tony Randall and Grace Hokin, as well as the sale of Picasso’s L’Aubade for $23,000,000. From 2004 to 2006, Ms. Ott Ambler was a Specialist in the 19th Century European Art and Sporting Art departments. From 1999 to 2004, she was a Fine Art Appraiser and Generalist, and served as specialist for numerous fine art collections, advising prospective buyers in such sales as The Bill Blass Collection, The Estate of Stanley Marcus, the Estate of Katharine Hepburn and The Gianni Versace Collection.
Ms. Ott Ambler attended Wellesley College where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature.
