Maarten ten Holder joined Sotheby’s in 1989 and served as Managing Director of Sotheby’s North and South American operations before his current role of Managing Director of Sotheby’s Europe.
He began his career at Sotheby’s Amsterdam whilst at University, became a cataloguer in the Clocks department and then was subsequently promoted to Operations Manager. Mr ten Holder organised Sotheby’s first ever auction in France.
He transferred to Sotheby’s Italy in 2002 as Deputy Managing Director of our Milan office and in 2006 moved to New York.
