Lydia Wingfield Digby joined Sotheby’s in 2012, bringing an extensive knowledge and experience in 20th Century British Art. She worked at Christie’s, South Kensington for nine years, initially in the Modern Prints Department, before becoming Head of Sale and Associate Director in the 20th Century British Art Department. There, Ms. Wingfield Digby was responsible for the department’s most successful quarterly sales in 20th Century British Art and achieved world-record results for a number of artists.
Ms. Wingfield Digby read Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic Studies at Girton College, Cambridge and subsequently gained an MPhil in Anglo-Saxon charters. From an early age, she has always had a special passion for modern British art and made regular visits to galleries in and around St Ives . As an undergraduate, she volunteered at Kettle’s Yard and through her work with the permanent collection there became determined to pursue a career working with 20th century British art.
