Sotheby's will offer Lord and Lady Attenborough's stunning private collection of Picasso ceramics for auction in November. The Attenboroughs amassed the works over a fifty year period, acquiring many of them from the south of France on family holidays, in the same region that Picasso first turned his attention to working in ceramics. The diverse collection of vases, plates and jugs bear many of Picasso's signature motifs such as faces, flora and fauna – and includes a number of unique works hand painted by the artist as well as editions made with the Madoura pottery in Vallauris.
