Art d'Amérique latine

Sotheby’s Latin American Art Department is the world leader in the field, achieving exceptional prices for renowned works of art. We pioneered sales of Latin American art with the first sale dedicated to this category in 1977, and we have continued to expand our relationships with collectors in this field ever since.

This department offers paintings, sculpture, works on paper and religious icons spanning 500 years from Latin American masters such as Mario Carreño, Frida Kahlo, Roberto Matta, Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo and Francisco Zúñiga, amongst many others.

Our seasoned team of experts is based in New York and works closely with colleagues in key regional offices throughout the Americas and Europe to source and sell the finest works. Together, their efforts attract broad global participation, with buyers from more than 30 countries bidding in recent sales. The extensive international presence of our experts has resulted in Sotheby’s holding fifteen of the top twenty prices ever paid at auction for Latin American art.

Major sales of Latin American art are held twice a year in May and November in New York.
