Description

Tomash & Williams note that the first volume comprises conference proceedings of a group who were "great proponents of automatic computation and influenced the development of various computers and languages, particularly Algol-68"; among them were Hans Freudenthal (1905-1990), W.L. Vander Poel (b.1926), and F. Zernicke. The volume of papers presented at a meeting in Aachen in July 1952 includes contributions by Hans Bückner (b.1912), Ludwig Biermann (1907-1986), Fritz Joachim Weyl (1915-1977), and Konrad Zuse (1910-1995).
