France--Verbiest, Isaak
NOVA TOTIUS GEOGRAPHICA REGNI GALLIAE DESCRIPTIO... [ANTWERP], 1628, 457 X 563MM., DOUBLE-PAGE ENGRAVED PANELLED MAP, SHAVED AT LOWER BORDER, MARGIN ADDED
The Verbiest family are one of the lesser Flemish cartographic publishers of the period, overshadowed by their Dutch rivals, hence their small output of panelled maps which are among the rarest of the genre. The panelled borders include thirteen city prospects including La Rochelle, in 1628 besieged by the English.
Schilder MCN VI, 84.3, recording three examples, this the only one complete with the borders
