Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives confirming production in 1941 and sale on August 27th the same year.
Reference 1506 is one of the rarest and largest chronographs manufactured in series by Patek Philippe and was made for a very short period, perhaps just three years from 1941 to 1943. To date, only 5 examples of the ref.1506 are known of which three are in yellow and two in pink gold. The present wristwatch is the only version of reference 1506 known with this type of dial (combination arabic and baton numerals) as the model is usually found with applied roman and baton indexes.
Model 1506 is most notable for its large size and elegant elongated faceted down-turned lugs. The central part of the case is slim, in keeping with the dimensions of the lugs and the case back is deeply domed to accomodate the back of the movement.
For an archive image of a reference 1506 dating to 1941, see Huber, M., & Banbery, A., Patek Philippe Wristwatches, Second Edition, p.267, pl.413.
