each with a parrot of mirror image modelled standing on a pierced rock base, the birds covered in a rich turquoise glaze and leaving the beak and feet unglazed, the base applied with an aubergine glaze, mounted with gilt-bronze candelabra, further embellished with European porcelain flowers on a shaped base cast with gekko, foliage and snails
The parrots each 21.5cm., high; 8½ in.; total height: 23cm., 9in.

A pair of almost identical turquoise parrots forming part of a garniture which belonged to Marie-Antoinette is now in the Louvre and illustrated by Madeleine Jarry, Chinoiserie, New York, 1981, p. 206, fig. 226.
