CONTEMPORARY CURATED - 7 March 2014 | NEW YORK

Reem Acra has been designing since 1997 when she first launched her company as a bridal line. In spring 2008, Acra brought her aesthetic into the ready-to-wear realm with distinctly modern designs that are marked by rich color, lush fabrics, flawless construction and playful patterns. Born in Lebanon, Acra studied first at the American University of Beirut, followed by the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and the École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode in Paris. Acra has dressed global style icons for weddings, red-carpet events, and award ceremonies, including Angelina Jolie, Catherine Zeta Jones, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Madonna. Her designs are reflective of the intrinsic relationship between fashion and art.

1.

Lot 211
Richard Prince
Untitled (Cowboy), 2003
Est. $500,000 - 700,000

I love this the most. Everything about it moves me. It is a moment in time.

2.

Lot 26
Salvatore Scarpitta
Double Halter, 1961
Est. $200,000 - 300,000

Scarpitta's bandaged, three-dimensional canvas evokes survival and a textural power that eloquently moves me. As the center of the avant-garde in the 50s, Scarpitta is a visual force we should all embrace.

3.

Lot 221
Vik Muniz
Monica Vitti (Pictures of Diamonds), 1999
Est. $60,000 - 80,000

This is an amazing portrait of one of the most famous Italian actresses of the 20th century. Vik's stunning portrayal of Vitti using diamonds reminds us that she is truly a timeless gem in cinematic history.
