Our auction of Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art on 13 July features a wonderful selection of British paintings, watercolours and drawings from the 19th to early 20th century. One of the highlights of the sale is Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s Lady Lilith, which comes to auction for the first time in thirty years and is one of the artist’s most iconic works to remain in private hands. A true celebration of beauty, the work was painted during Rossetti’s most innovative period in the 1860s, when he created the cult of the Pre-Raphaelite beauty, or ‘Stunner’ as he called them.
Additional highlights of the sale include works by other notable Pre-Raphaelite and Classical Revivalist artists John William Godward, Albert Joseph Moore and Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones as well as pictures by Edward Stott, George Clausen and Sir Alfred Munnings, among others.
