On the occasion of the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death, Sotheby’s Hong Kong is honoured to present a public exhibition of the legendary First Folio.
In 1616 at age 52, ‘the Bard of Avon’ died, leaving behind many unpublished works. Seven years later, the publication of a collected edition of his plays known as the First Folio ensured that literary treasures such as Twelfth Night and Macbeth were not lost.
Featuring the First Folio alongside photographs and select works, the exhibitions are on loan from Eton College, the British independent school from whom all exhibits have been loaned, together with Heywood Hill, the London Bookshop and the British Consulate.
