There were strong result in the traditional collecting areas as top results were achieved by a set of four Italian lanterns which made £68,000, a pair of pictures by Henry Alken Snr. which made £37,000, a George IV mahogany library table from the collection of the Duchess of Roxburghe which made £35,000 and Daniel Quare walnut marquetry month-going longcase clock which made £35,000.
However, it wasn’t all about the stellar results of the most pre-eminent pieces. Bargains were to be had and a Chinese needlepoint rug sold for £40.
