The relaunch of our standalone Scottish Art sale saw strong results and re-established Sotheby’s at the forefront of the Scottish market. Samuel John Peploe’s exceptional Pink Roses sold for £485,000, the highest price achieved for a Scottish colourist in 2015.
Sotheby’s are delighted to be re-launching a dedicated Scottish Art sale. As a response to the increased demand for content from our buyers and vendors we will be holding an annual sale of approximately 70 lots by Scottish artists.
Headlining the auction is Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell’s The Cheval Glass, a wonderful example from Cadell’s Reflections series, depicting his favourite model Bethia Don Wauchope. The sale will comprise works by the leading artists of the 19th and 20th centuries with an additional emphasis on 20th Century and Contemporary art. If you require any assistance with your collection or if you require a valuation of your property with a view to sale, head of sale Jane Oakley will be travelling to Scotland regularly and would be delighted to help.
Please note that the Travelling Exhibition in Edinburgh will take place at the Assembly Rooms, 54 George Street, Edinburgh.
