Our Contemporary Art Day Auction achieved a total value of £16.91 million. The sale was led by Peter Doig’s masterful portrait of a bohemian gentleman, Cold Blooded, painted in 2003 shortly after the artist moved to Trinidad. The painting more than doubled its pre-sale estimate, selling for £1.3m (est. £400,000-600,000).Untitled (D387), a vibrant work by Christopher Wool, estimated at £200,000-300,000, sold for £545,000. Superb prices were also realised for works by Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter and Josef Albers.
