Sotheby’s Beijing Autumn Sale 2015 concluded with rational and solid results, attesting to the healthy development of the auction market. A number of works were sold well over pre-sale high estimate, including the cover lot — Xie Nanxing’s Untitled (Ambiguous Flower No.4), which fetched over six times more than the pre-sale estimate. This reaffirms also that works by emerging young artists continue to be well supported by the market.
The Modern and Contemporary Chinese Art Sale in Beijing is pleased to present a distinguished selection of Modern and Contemporary Chinese art as well as Contemporary ink works, featuring outstanding works by renowned artists including Mao Yan, Zeng Fanzhi, Liu Dan and Jiang Hongwei. An important highlight is Mao Yan’s early masterpiece Oil Painting Studio 2, which has been held in a European collection for many years and will appear in auction for the first time.
