Sotheby's sale of Important Americana brought a total of $2,265,504. An Important Federal Carved and Inlaid Mahogany Firescreen, attributed to Nathan Lombard, circa 1798-1805, led the auction and sold above its high estimate for $118,750. Also performing strongly, a 16-Star American National Flag, circa 1817, sold for $100,000, more than double its high estimate.
Featured in our January sale is a wonderful selection of American fine and decorative arts: a strong assortment of carpets, Audubon prints, Chinese export porcelain, silver, furniture and folk art. A number of these pieces hail from private collections. Join us in our New York galleries from 17 to 23 January to see a very rare Deerfield chest of drawers and more.
