Our highly successful mid-season sale achieved a total in excess of the pre-sale high estimate and was led by Pieter Pietersz.' Der Gortenteller which sold for £170,500, over five times its estimate.
Sell-through rates, both by lot and by value, were the strongest for this sale since 2006. Nine of the top ten prices were for works from the Dutch and Flemish schools showing the strength of the market in this important sector.
This sale, which offers the opportunity to collectors both old and new to acquire carefully selected Old Masters from £2,000 to £50,000, is led by an exceptionally rare, rediscovered 16th-century Dutch genre scene by Pieter Pietersz. Works from the 15th century to the 19th century and from most major schools of Western European painting are on offer.
