Sotheby’s sale of Important Watches in Geneva was led by the Schmid & Muller Collectionof more than 4,000 pieces relating to the artistic development of Swatch, which sold for CHF 1.3million. Created and assembled in the 1980s by Marlyse Schmid and Bernard Muller (the two designers who played a critical role in the artistic development of the celebrated Swiss brand), the collection includes close to 1,000 watches and nearly 380 exceptionally rare prototypes.
Set to raise enthusiasm among collectors across all categories from vintage to modern wristwatches, including a nice selection of minute repeating timepieces from the early 20th century, the Geneva November auction will be highlighted by the unique Swatch collection from the original designers of the first Swatch models. The sale will also comprise some essential professional Rolex models as well as some of the major contemporary Patek Philippe references.
Sotheby’s is also honoured to present in collaboration with IWC Schaffhausen the Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Edition “Le Petit Prince”, to benefit the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation. This unique piece features a rather whimsical star mechanism on the dial, which represents “The Little Prince’s” journey before reaching earth, visiting other planets and meeting some odd characters.

This lot is a quarter repeater pocket watch and not a minute repeater.

The present watch is a prototype entirely designed by Gerald Genta. The case and dial are a unique feature to this movement. The watch is sold with a copy of the work of reference "Gerald Genta, The Maestro and his art".
