On a single day this November Sotheby’s Paris will offer a staggering array of furniture and decorative arts. The first auction, entitled Important Mobilier, Sculptures et Objets d’art, will include a rare brass inlaid bureau plat from the Régence period, attributed to Bernard Ier van Risen Burgh. His son, the famous BVRB II, is the author of the beautiful bois satiné and amaranth parquetry bureau en pente which will be also offered at auction. Of further interest is a sofa delivered by Georges Jacob for Queen Marie-Antoinette’s warehouse. Last but not least, a large Aubusson pile carpet in the Savonnerie manner, Louis XVI, must be pointed out.
