Limitless Connection – Morning Mist in Mengshan by Wang Yidon, the leading figure of Chinese realistic oil painting, conveys the mutual dependence between man and woman. Embodied in the contrast between yin (female) and yang (male), which adds a dramatized layer of meaning to Wang’s painting. The tranquil background and used of void space is reminiscent of traditional Chinese landscape painting, while the centre of the canvas, the aged black boulder is juxtaposed with the youthful couple above. Finally, the winter dawn shining through the mist illuminates the perfect relationship between man and nature, laden with hope for the future.
