This painting was engraved by William Ward in 1800. An inscription which accompanied the prints of the engraving identifies the carriage specifically as that used by the Earl of Chesterfield (1755-1815), Master of the Horse to George III. Chesterfield, who was awarded the Garter in 1805, held the post from February 1798 to July 1804.
The estimate for this lot is now £30,000 - £50,000 and not as printed in the catalogue.
