Mee-Seen Loong has played a key role in the field of Chinese Works of Art for 38 years. A native of Kuala Lumpur, Ms. Loong first came to the United States on an American Field Service exchange program. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Wellesley College and her Master’s degree in Far Eastern Art from Columbia University. Her long career at Sotheby’s has included the roles of Co-Director of the Chinese Works of Art department in North America, Managing Director of Sotheby’s Hong Kong, and Head of International Asian Business and Client Services, New York. As a specialist in Chinese Works of Art, Ms. Loong has worked on some of the most significant collections of Chinese art to come up for auction, including those of Eugene Bernat, The J.T. Tai Foundation, T.Y. Chao I and II, Paul and Helen Bernat, J.M. Hu, The British Rail Pension Fund, Antoinette H. and Frederick J. Van Slyke, Robert Hatfield Ellsworth, The Estate of Mr. Laurance S. Rockefeller, The Albright-Knox Museum and the Arthur Sackler Collections. She now provides art advisory services to individual collectors, corporations and museums worldwide, and has expanded her consultative services to include the representation and promotion of Chinese Contemporary ink artists and ceramicists. She was elected Vice Chairman of Chinese Art in 2013.
