Marguerite de Sabran joined Sotheby’s in 2003 and under her direction, African & Oceanic Art sales in Paris have increased 300 percent.  

She advises dedicated collectors of African & Oceanic Art in France, including one who purchased a Luba Shankadi head crest from the Democratic Republic of Congo at Sotheby’s for €1.4 million (presale estimate: €200,000–250,000)—the highest price of the year for African & Oceanic Art in 2005.

Ms de Sabran's prior experience includes freelance work for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs on cultural projects linked to Africa.

Ms de Sabran holds an undergraduate degree in History of Art with a specialisation in African and Oceanic Arts and Museography from the École du Louvre in Paris as well as a PhD from the École du Louvre.
