James Macdonald Senior Director, Sotheby’s London, Head of Old Master Paintings Private Sales Worldwide, joined Sotheby’s in 1997 having achieved a Master’s degree in Spanish, Italian and History of Art at Saint Catharine’s College, Cambridge. He was appointed Senior Director in 2006 and since 2000 has been responsible for Sotheby’s Old Master Paintings interests within Spain and Portugal. In 2006 James was appointed Head of Old Master Paintings Private Sales, Worldwide, and co-ordinates and drives our increasing sale activity in this area.
