Holly Brackenbury specialises in Modern and Contemporary South Asian paintings, Indian miniatures and Indo-Islamic works of art. Ms. Brackenbury has been with Sotheby’s since 1999 and is a former Director of Indian Art, Sotheby's London, where she worked with the global team on sales in New York and London and traveling exhibitions in the region. As well as being involved with the Arts of the Islamic World sales Ms. Brackenbury was responsible for developing the annual Indian sale in London from 2006. Ms. Brackenbury has worked on a number of high-profile single-owner collections including the Tipu Sultan Collection and the Stuart Cary Welch Collection and was instrumental in bringing together the sale of the Dartington Hall Trust collection of Tagores which achieved a world record price at auction. Ms. Brackenbury is a lecturer for the SOAS Diploma in Asian Art, regularly contributes to journals and newspapers in South Asia and has been on a number of art forum discussion panels including the India Art Fair in Delhi. Ms. Brackenbury has a BA Hons. degree in History of Art and Architecture from The University of Manchester and a Post Graduate Diploma in Islamic and Indian Art, and has interned at The British Museum, The Victoria & Albert Museum and the Mehrangarh Fort Museum in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
