Elif Bayoglu joined Sotheby's Middle East and India Department in 2008 and has played an instrumental role in each of Sotheby's Contemporary Turkish Art auctions in this increasingly important field. She was appointed Head of Contemporary Turkish Art sales in 2010, working closely with Oya Delahaye, Head of Sotheby's Turkey.
Ms Bayoglu’s in-depth knowledge of this market, her fluency in the Turkish language, and her contacts in the region have been invaluable in developing this important collecting field at Sotheby's. She has also been working on the Contemporary Arab and Iranian Art sales since 2008 and had an important role in the At The Crossroads: Contemporary Art from Caucasus and Central Asia selling exhibition in 2013. She was the co-curator of At the Crossroads 2: Contemporary Art from Istanbul to Kabul in 2014 with Suad Garayeva. Since April 2014, Ms Bayoglu has continued her role as a Sotheby's Consultant based in Istanbul, Turkey.
Elif Bayoglu received a Bachelor's degree in Art History and Economics from Northwestern University in Illinois, USA in 2006 and a Master's degree in Art Business from the Sotheby's Institute of Art, London in 2008.
