After inaugurating the first biannual sale of Southeast Asian Art in Singapore in 1996, Sotheby’s responded to the growing international demand for these works and moved the auctions to Hong Kong in 2008. The past two decades have seen the emergence of a new generation of artists from Southeast Asia, and Sotheby’s is well placed at the forefront of this market, exhibiting and promoting these regional voices.

Our seasoned team of specialists in Hong Kong and Singapore has achieved record-breaking results bringing to market the most desirable examples of the genre available, including works by artists such as Hendra Gunawan, Lee Man Fong, Affandi, Ronald Ventura, Ay Tjoe Christine, Fernando Zóbel and Handiwirman Saputra.
