RESULTS
The Fine Classical Chinese Paintings sale in Hong Kong achieved a strong total of HK$122 million/ US$16 million. Leading the sale was Letters, a rare handscroll by Zhang Wenjing, a government official during the Song Dynasty, which fetched HK$42.2 million/ US$5.4 million, over ten times its high estimate.
Our sale was meticulously sourced to cater to the demand of Asian collectors. Rare pieces with excellent provenance fetched exceptionally high prices, which testified to Sotheby’s profound understanding of the market’s appetite.
